Today is my birthday!

Eight blissful, furry years…

Ya know, when people say, “It’s a dog’s life”, they are just jealous.  Because, let me tell ya.  Today, on my 8th birthday, I got to sleep in late, had a little breakfast, played some games, chased Maezi, & then had a nap.

Then, I played some games, had a mani-pedi, had some treats & then took a nap.

I like to lounge on the big bed & Maezi obliges me by messing up all their covers when they aren’t looking.  Doesn’t matter how many times they make the bed…she UNmakes it.  Just like we like it.  Ah nesting.  It’s the best.

I love getting presents. What a cute birthday hat.

So then, we went outside, chased some butterflies, checked out the yard & then decided we’d play on the big bed.  Cuz, you can drop stuff off the edge & make a game of trying to get it back up there.  We like to keep busy between naps.

Maezi is always getting between me & my toys – she thinks it’s funny.  And she was making fun of me because I didn’t get a birthday hat & she did.

.

GIVE ME THE HAT!

Well, it doesn’t matter, I like my new toy anyway…

Happy end to a happy day.

Happy…zzz…

Two little hearts…

………………………..Long ago when their friendship was new
………………………..Two little dogs hadn’t a clue…
…………………………….But Cupid’s swift darts,
…………………………….Aimed straight for their hearts,
………………………..And now the fast friends are true blue.

Ode to a “little Soul”

Grieving hearts break when a beloved passes on, & mend when celebrating the special life.  My Mom’s dear friend, Ljuba,  in Genoa, Italy, is a musician…& her cat, Duška, was, too.

Ljuba says, “Duška means “ little Soul” in Russian.  She was an extraordinary creature, with a really dog-like devotion to me; she was following me everywhere like  my shadow…a guardian angel.”

“ Little Soul”  Duška lived 19 years & 8 months in a house full of love & music.  I’m glad I got to hear about her, because really, there was much happiness & isn’t that was we all strive for in our lives?   A pleasant companion to share our love & toys with?  Here, we have  music, love & each other, so we send you a fond goodbye & blow a kiss to you, Duška.

Your pals,
Auggie & Maezi

Farewell, little Soul

Birthdays & other musings

Twenty one years ago today…my brother, Shaanti, was born.  I never knew him, because he was gone before I came to our house.  But, I’m told was lovely snuggly & sweet – The first “together child” in the family.  He liked lounging on chests & inventing his own games.

His most incredible feat came the time he unrolled a roll of toilet paper out the bathroom, down the hall, thru the kitchen, down the dining room, out the dog door, across the patio, & into the yard – all without breaking the 63 foot total strip of toilet paper.

That takes soooome skill!

He was very particular about his costumes & starred in a number of Two Little Dogs Christmas cards & other holiday scenes for many years.  He never met a squeaky toy he didn’t like…and he was extremely fond of Pillsbury Cinnamon Orange Sweet Rolls on Sunday mornings.

An orange pom of cinnamon sable
Who liked to hang out on the table
…..Called himself Shaanti –
…..with a smile big and jaunty,
And his exploits were legend in fable.

You can hear hear a sample of his song here & read his story when you buy the CD from Two Little Dogs.

So, tomorrow, in honor of his birthday, & coincidentally on my Mom’s birthday (see, they were bonded – kindred spirits), I’m going to have orange rolls in bed, snuggle on her chest & then see if I can best Shaanti’s 63 feet of tissue record.

Mmmm…Santa was a good boy

Well, Maezi & I worked very hard on our photo shoot with Santa, & he let us have some of the props.

Christmas Card Craziness. Part 1

I haven’t been able to write, because, well, there is a lot of activity here, & we have to supervise it.  We have to look in every bag, box & parcel that comes our way.

We found this interesting package just the other day.

Well?  What is it going to be?   This blown out photo provides a clue…

Think you have a guess?

Maezi & I are absolutely exhausted!  Exhausted, I tell you, from posing for our Christmas card.

This little tease is a puzzle.   What mysterious item is hidden in this picture?

Sky gazing

This autumn’s sweet briskly cold air,
Makes me wish for a sweater to wear
…..While I gaze at the sky
…..As the clouds race on by
And the wind wildly ruffles my hair.

Giving Thanks

It requires a gentle nudge sometimes, but it’s always the right time to show appreciation…

So after the big feast the the running & playing & family time, once you settle in, be sure to snuggle next to one you love & say…”thanks”.

Thanksgiving we eat lots of turkey,
And prance around happy and perky.
…..We might play some pranks
…..But we really mean thanks!
For our life that we love is so quirky.

Thanks for a fun & rewarding day, today & every day.

Ah, November

It really is one of my favorite months.  The wind ruffles my hair, birds sing really loud in the morning & I can enjoy the tang of possum in the air.  They have a distinctive fragrance you know.  Maezi & I go out in the morning to look for clues.  We always find the clues – but never the culprit.  I wonder if the little possum who visited us so long ago is the one still visiting?
